Jon Rauch2

Guest blogger Jon Rauch is the Children’s Pastor at Grace Community Church – Goshen, where he also started a ministry for children with special needs called “Through the Roof.”

You can hear Jon share the journey of this unique ministry when he presents at DJ Construction’s Lunch and Learn event on September 30. Below, he shares some of his heart about the ministry.

“Through The Roof”
Each week I have the privilege of getting and giving loads of hi-fives and half hugs from precious children as they come into Kid City in our church. I love this time of connecting with them, because it helps us to fulfill part of our mission for kids to feel God’s love. Some of the families that come through our doors are only able to be there because of a ministry we have for children with special needs called “Through the Roof.”

Through this ministry, we have been able to partner with parents who want to attend church but aren’t able to out of concern for their child’s unique needs not being met. I’ll never forget the words of the first family involved in “Through the Roof.” As we sat and talked with this mom about her son attending Kid City, we asked her, “What do you think your son knows about Jesus’ love for him?” Choked up, she said, “No one has ever asked me that before.”

Unfortunately, there are lots of church not asking that question for the special kids in their community. We’d like to help give you some ideas and steps to help your church minister and care for some of these great families—families that Jesus deeply loves. Join me at our Lunch and Learn on September 30, 2014 at DJ Construction’s offices.

About DJ Construction’s Lunch and Learn:
Does your church need a children’s ministry strategy for safety & security, for caring for children with special needs, or for protection from litigation?

If so, DJ Construction invites church leaders involved with children’s ministries to a spring Lunch & Learn event.

On September 30, 2014, from 11:30-1:00 at the DJ Construction corporate offices, a panel discussion will be held on the topics, “Creating a Safe & Secure Children’s Ministry” and “Caring for Children with Special Needs.”

Panel presenters include:

• Jon Rauch from Grace Community Church, Goshen, who will share about ministering to children with special needs and his church’s ministry “Through the Roof”

• Brent Hoober from Yoder Insurance, Shipshewana, who will focus on safety and security as well as protecting the church and staff from liability issues in today’s litigious society.

A question and answer time will be provided after the presentation.

The event is free, and lunch will be provided.
