Matt reminds us that, just like Moses did, we can ask for “the most incredible thing” from God….
All For His Glory
It can easily be agreed that Moses saw some pretty incredible things while he lived. He saw plagues cast onto the Egyptian Pharaoh, pillars of smoke and fire, Red Sea parted, bread from heaven, water from a rock. He saw the Ten Commandments made, broken, and remade.
Moses saw some pretty incredible things by anyone’s standards; but when given the chance to ask the LORD God for anything, Moses asked for the most incredible thing… to see God’s glory!
Exodus 33:18 we see Moses say, “Please show me your glory.” Of all the things he could have asked for he asked to see God’s glory.
Moses is responding to the LORD’s saying that He would not go with the Israelites into the land of Canaan. Moses intercedes for the Israelites and says, “Is it not your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth” (Ex. 33:16 ESV).
Moses knew something that still holds true for us today. We are only distinct from the rest of the world when God is with us and His glory shown.
Just as Moses said, “Show me your glory,” our desire at Harvest Bible Chapel in Granger is that God’s glory be made manifest in our presence.
We desire to glorify God before all else. Show us your glory LORD!
Matt, thank you for helping us focus on our heart’s desire.
