The leadership team of Hubbard Hill Living Wisdom Community recognized that the current approach to memory care living was designed with too many limits and not enough opportunities. That’s why they collaborated with DJ Construction, leading dementia care experts, and other industry experts to create a new kind of living option for their residents.
During the planning and creation of this project, DJ Construction worked with design experts at Arkos Design to build what is now considered to be a new gold standard in memory care. The campus was created to make its residents feel like they are part of a neighborhood, giving them the independence to step outside and enjoy a patio, gardening and more. The focus was 100% on the resident and how to enrich their daily lives. There are four houses in common local architecture styles; a tudor, a colonial, a craftsman, and a farmhouse. Each household allows for nine residents to share a living room, dining room, and kitchen, which are all scaled and designed like single-family homes. Each resident has a private bedroom and bathroom. Each house has 24-7 access to a central atrium. The central atrium allows for free access to nature no matter the outside climate. It is tall enough and large enough to house full-sized trees. This atrium will give residents round-the-clock access to an outdoor-type environment that they were likely used to when they owned their own home while still remaining within the safety of Hubbard Hill itself.
