Dutchmen, DJ Construction Complete Major Project
New welding facility provides a centralized location to employees.
GOSHEN – July 14, 2014—Dutchmen Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Thor Industries, and local contractor DJ Construction recently put the finishing touches on a new steel building with extensive site improvements.
DJ added a new 51,280 sq. ft. multi-use complex on North Eisenhower Drive that houses the company’s aluminum fabrication, CNC routing and countertop construction lamination, and welding shop. The addition creates a central location for the Dutchmen employees who work in these specific production areas.
In conjunction with the new building, DJ Construction’s project manager Howie Mathews supervised the resurfacing of 31,000 square yards of asphalt, the redesign of the retention pond drainage system, fencing, and new employee parking, with the purpose of greatly improved factory and delivery traffic flow.
All the work was completed without interrupting the work flow at Dutchmen.
Bob Pettit, support services manager at Dutchmen, said the project was very large in scope and size but was completed ahead of schedule.
“The project was scheduled to take seven or eight months to complete, but DJ got us into our facility within six months, even in the face of very adverse and extreme weather conditions this past winter,” said Pettit.
Dutchmen was recently recognized as one of DJ’s top 60 clients in their anniversary 60 for 60 celebration.
