DJ Construction, Twin City Rebuild Church
New sanctuary slated to be completed by Easter, 2015.
MISHAWAKA – September 9, 2014—Last fall, Twin City Baptist Church pastor Jerry Bell made a call to DJ Construction for what he hoped would be a routine repair.
A strong storm had passed through the St. Joseph County town of Mishawaka, leaving a wake of wind damage in its trail. The church located at 420 East Jefferson Boulevard was no exception. Local television station WSBT caught the damage in video.
But as the construction team assessed the damage, they discovered a much more serious problem: the building’s structure had been compromised and would need to be replaced.
In August, the church and its congregants broke ground on a new 16,350 sq. ft two-story building.
The project consists of a sanctuary, classrooms, offices, nursery, restrooms, entry foyer and upper level mezzanine.
Enos Yoder, Certified Church Consultant and manager of project development at DJ Construction, said while the storm damage to the original building is unfortunate, the DJ team is eager to help supply a church that best fits their church’s ministry efforts.
“Here’s a church that lost its entire sanctuary,” said Yoder. “They’ve been meeting in their multipurpose gym area ever since.
“Our goal is to help Twin City have a good healthy start this fall so we can get the church worshiping together in a new facility by Easter of 2015.”
Pastor Jerry Bell said that time will be one of “joy, blessing, and celebration.”
